More Faked Global Warming Data. . . .
The "Inconvenient " Typo. . . .

Perhaps the key point discovered by Smith was that by 1990, NOAA had deleted from its datasets all but 1500 of the 6000 thermometers in service around the globe.
Now, 75% represents quite a drop in sampling population, particularly considering that these stations provide the readings used to compile both the Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN) and United States Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) datasets. The same datasets, incidentally, which serve as primary sources of temperature data not only for climate researchers and universities worldwide, but also for the many international agencies using the data to create analytical temperature anomaly maps and charts.
Yet, as disturbing as the number of dropped stations was, it was the nature of NOAA’s “selection bias” that Smith found infinitely more troubling.
It seems that stations placed in historically cooler, rural areas of higher latitude and elevation were scrapped from the data series in favor of more urban locales at lower latitudes and elevations. Consequently, post-1990 readings have been biased to the warm side not only by selective geographic location, but also the anthropogenic heating influence of a phenomenon known as the Urban Heat Island Effect (UHI).

Chairman Zero was railing against banks yesterday with a passion and a zeal conspicuously absent on those rare occasions when he discusses fighting terrorists. He claims banks must be punished for not lending to small business, when in fact, it's his own massive deficits that are sucking money out of the private sector.
Bankers are responding to the incentives generated by the economic policies of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve. First and foremost is the Fed's policy of near-zero interest rates. What this means is that banks can raise short-term money at very low interest rates and buy safe, 10-year Treasury bonds at around 3.5%. The Bernanke Fed has promised to maintain its policy for "an extended period." That translates into an extended opportunity for banks to engage in this interest-rate arbitrage.
You see, what these mom's-basement-Trotskyites won't admit is that bankers aren't lending to small business because it's more profitable to loan money to the Fed, which Chairman Zero uses to hire more bureaucrats... the only growth sector in the economy.

Global Warming is a Religion. . . .

Hood Massacre Report Gutless and Shameful. . . .

There are two basic problems with the grotesque non-report on the Islamist- terror massacre at Fort Hood (released by the Defense Department yesterday):
* It's not about what happened at Fort Hood.
* It avoids entirely the issue of why it happened.
Rarely in the course of human events has a report issued by any government agency been so cowardly and delusional. It's so inept, it doesn't even rise to cover-up level.
"Protecting the Force: Lessons From Fort Hood" never mentions Islamist terror. Its 86 mind-numbing pages treat "the alleged perpetrator," Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, as just another workplace shooter (guess they're still looking for the pickup truck with the gun rack).
The report is so politically correct that its authors don't even realize the extent of their political correctness -- they're body-and-soul creatures of the PC culture that murdered 12 soldiers and one Army civilian.
Reading the report, you get the feeling that, jeepers, things actually went pretty darned well down at Fort Hood. Commanders, first responders and everybody but the latest "American Idol" contestants come in for high praise.
The teensy bit of specific criticism is reserved for the "military medical officer supervisors" in Maj. Hasan's chain of command at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. As if the problem started and ended there.
Unquestionably, the officers who let Hasan slide, despite his well-known wackiness and hatred of America, bear plenty of blame. But this disgraceful pretense of a report never asks why they didn't stop Hasan's career in its tracks.
The answer is straightforward: Hasan's superiors feared -- correctly -- that any attempt to call attention to his radicalism or to prevent his promotion would backfire on them, destroying their careers, not his.
Hasan was a protected-species minority. Under the PC tyranny of today's armed services, no non-minority officer was going to take him on.
This is a military that imposes rules of engagement that protect our enemies and kill our own troops and that court-martials heroic SEALs to appease a terrorist. Ain't many colonels willing to hammer the Army's sole Palestinian-American psychiatrist.
Of course, there's no mention of political correctness by the panel. Instead, the report settles for blinding flashes of the obvious, such as "We believe a gap exists in providing information to the right people." Gee, really? Well, that explains everything. Money well spent!
Or "Department of Defense force protection policies are not optimized for countering internal threats." Of course not: You can't stop an internal threat you refuse to recognize.
The panel's recommendations? Wow. "Develop a risk-assessment tool for commanders." Now that's going to stop Islamist terrorists in their tracks.
The Fort Hood massacre didn't reflect an intelligence failure. The intelligence was there, in gigabytes. This was a leadership failure and an ethical failure, at every level. Nobody wanted to know what Hasan was up to. But you won't learn that from this play-pretend report.
The sole interesting finding flashes by quickly: Behind some timid wording on pages 13 and 14, a daring soul managed to insert the observation that we aren't currently able to keep violence-oriented religious extremists from becoming chaplains. (Of course, they're probably referring to those darned Baptists . . .)
To be fair, there's a separate, classified report on Maj. Hasan himself. But it's too sensitive for the American people to see. Does it even hint he was a self-appointed Islamist terrorist committing jihad? I'll bet it focuses on his "personal problems."
In the end, the report contents itself with pretending that the accountability problem was isolated within the military medical community at Walter Reed. It wasn't, and it isn't. Murderous political correctness is pervasive in our military. The medical staff at Walter Reed is just where the results began to manifest themselves in Hasan's case.
Once again, the higher-ups blame the worker bees who were victims of the policy the higher-ups inflicted on them. This report's spinelessness is itself an indictment of our military's failed moral and ethical leadership.
We agonize over civilian casualties in a war zone but rush to whitewash the slaughter of our own troops on our own soil. Conduct unbecoming.

The teensy bit of specific criticism is reserved for the "military medical officer supervisors" in Maj. Hasan's chain of command at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. As if the problem started and ended there.
Unquestionably, the officers who let Hasan slide, despite his well-known wackiness and hatred of America, bear plenty of blame. But this disgraceful pretense of a report never asks why they didn't stop Hasan's career in its tracks.
The answer is straightforward: Hasan's superiors feared -- correctly -- that any attempt to call attention to his radicalism or to prevent his promotion would backfire on them, destroying their careers, not his.
Hasan was a protected-species minority. Under the PC tyranny of today's armed services, no non-minority officer was going to take him on.
This is a military that imposes rules of engagement that protect our enemies and kill our own troops and that court-martials heroic SEALs to appease a terrorist. Ain't many colonels willing to hammer the Army's sole Palestinian-American psychiatrist.
Of course, there's no mention of political correctness by the panel. Instead, the report settles for blinding flashes of the obvious, such as "We believe a gap exists in providing information to the right people." Gee, really? Well, that explains everything. Money well spent!
Or "Department of Defense force protection policies are not optimized for countering internal threats." Of course not: You can't stop an internal threat you refuse to recognize.
The panel's recommendations? Wow. "Develop a risk-assessment tool for commanders." Now that's going to stop Islamist terrorists in their tracks.
The Fort Hood massacre didn't reflect an intelligence failure. The intelligence was there, in gigabytes. This was a leadership failure and an ethical failure, at every level. Nobody wanted to know what Hasan was up to. But you won't learn that from this play-pretend report.
The sole interesting finding flashes by quickly: Behind some timid wording on pages 13 and 14, a daring soul managed to insert the observation that we aren't currently able to keep violence-oriented religious extremists from becoming chaplains. (Of course, they're probably referring to those darned Baptists . . .)
To be fair, there's a separate, classified report on Maj. Hasan himself. But it's too sensitive for the American people to see. Does it even hint he was a self-appointed Islamist terrorist committing jihad? I'll bet it focuses on his "personal problems."
In the end, the report contents itself with pretending that the accountability problem was isolated within the military medical community at Walter Reed. It wasn't, and it isn't. Murderous political correctness is pervasive in our military. The medical staff at Walter Reed is just where the results began to manifest themselves in Hasan's case.
Once again, the higher-ups blame the worker bees who were victims of the policy the higher-ups inflicted on them. This report's spinelessness is itself an indictment of our military's failed moral and ethical leadership.
We agonize over civilian casualties in a war zone but rush to whitewash the slaughter of our own troops on our own soil. Conduct unbecoming.

Haiti on List of Best Places for the Environment. . . .

You can't help but get angry when you know that America pumps billions of dollars in aid to this country every year without any accountability. The crooked politicians pocket the money and the people suffer.

Oprah "the Socialist" Wannabe?

Today I happened to catch the first part of the Oprah Winfrey Show. No, I did not choose to watch Oprah, it was on in the same room as myself. Anyway, Oprah hosted a show on various countries and Denmark was one of those countries, specifically Copenhagen. She must have filmed it while she was there to promote the Olympics. She did mention that things did not go well in the case of the Olympics. I laughed out loud.
The main focus was that Denmark is considered by researchers to have the most happy population on earth. The idea seems to be that the people are taken care of by the government, so they have nothing to worry about. Oprah interviewed a woman who explained that if she loses her job, the government will help her find a new one and pay her up to four years of unemployment insurance (at 90% of her previous salary). University education is not only provided for free, but students are paid to attend school. People pick their occupations based on interest rather than the amount of money they will earn because everybody earns equal pay. Healthcare is free as well. The woman gave a tour of her home that was cramped. Three children share one room. Marriage is no big deal in Denmark and so there is no pressure there. Several Danish women told Oprah that they do not believe in any Higher Power and that most Danes have the same lack of belief. (Yes, they do believe in a higher power. . . .Their Government. . . .It supply's all their needs)
As a freedom-loving American, i found myself wondering how anyone could be happy under a socialistic rule like this where everyone is treated as an equal even when equal effort is not given. How can one be happy when they have no way to measure success? How can one be happy when they are not rewarded according to effort? The Danish women maintained that they lived under a Democracy and not socialism. I clear example of how wonderful their free education has been. It is not until halfway through the interview that the woman being interviewed admits that taxes are 50%. Some free healthcare and education, eh? This is the way all of these countries work. They claim to get services for free even though they are paying immense taxes. The Danish woman claimed that she did not mind the 50% in taxes. I certainly would not be happy paying half of my hard earned money to the government.
I would be interested in knowing who exactly are the researchers that came up with the result that the Danes are the most happy. I bet they were from Berkley or perhaps Columbia University. (abcnews.go.com reported it and we know our media loves socialism)

Gitmo Detainees Want To Stay Put. . . .

I love this. Liberals have been whining for years about the "horrific" conditions of detainees in Gitmo. This is one of the many reasons why they wanted the place closed. So they got their wish from Barack Obama, and if you will recall Obama decided that he is going to transfer Gitmo detainees to a supermax prison in Illinois.
Well now it turns out that the Gitmo detainees don't want to go. A lawyer for many Gitmo detainees says that while his clients clearly want to go home, at least they are being held under Geneva Convention conditions in Gitmo. He says, "As far as our clients are concerned, it's probably preferable for them to remain at Guantánamo." So we may see lawyers of Gitmo detainees set up legal roadblocks to prevent their clients from leaving Gitmo.
Wonder what the moonbats have to say about that?

Terrorist Supporting Group Code Pink. . . .

These are the same loons that always camped outside President Bush's Ranch in Crawford, TX. Maybe they do need to smoke a joint and mellow out a little.

Ethics Journalism = Oxymoron

NBC blasted for checkbook journalism on David Goldman story — echoes of Casey Anthony coverage.
NBC’s interview with David Goldman has drawn a scathing review from the Society of Professional Journalists’ Ethics Committee.
The panel says it’s “appalled” because NBC News chartered a plane for Goldman and his son, Sean, to fly from Brazil to the United States. They were reunited after a five-year custody battle, and they arrived in Orlando on Christmas Eve. In paying for the plane, NBC News engaged in “checkbook journalism,” the Ethics Committee says.
The journalists’ group has a code of ethics that urges reporters to refrain from bidding for news.
“The public could rightly assume that NBC News bought exclusive interviews and images, as well as the family’s loyalty, with an extravagant gift,” Ethics Committee Chairman Andy Schotz said.
In a statement, NBC News said: “The Goldmans were invited on a jet NBC News chartered to fly home to the U.S. on Thursday, December 24. NBC News has followed this story since the Goldmans’ story first ran on Dateline nearly one year ago — David Goldman since has appeared on Today seventeen times. NBC News has not and will not pay for an interview.”
With its lavish gesture to the Goldmans, NBC News helped create the news and jeopardized its credibility, the SPJ Ethics Committee said.
“Mixing financial and promotional motives with an impartial search for truth stains honest, ethical reporting,” Schotz said. “Checkbook journalism has no place in the news business.”
The journalists’ group is urging NBC News to show some transparency on the story. Meredith Vieira interviewed David Goldman on “Today” this morning. More of the interview will be seen in a two-hour “Dateline” at 8 p.m. Jan. 8.
From the beginning, NBC News has disclosed that it invited the Goldman family on the flight.
“NBC must now, belatedly, explain why it entangled its news reporting and corporate interests in this story, as well as the terms of any deal it made with the Goldman family,” Schotz said. “NBC also is ethically bound to adequately disclose its active role in the story in each of its future reports on the Goldmans.”
The Ethics Committee critique arrived after it was reported that CNN paid a licensing fee to Jasper Schuringa, the hero of Northwest Flight 253 who subdued a Nigerian man determined to blow up the plane. CNN paid for a cell phone image — and thus landed Schuringa for an exclusive interview.
The Web site Mediaite.com reported,”There’s a reason Schuringa has not appeared any further on CNN or any other network – we hear he has asked for additional payment for any future interviews.”
Many viewers have been appalled by fees that TV news organizations have paid for photographs and footage in the Casey Anthony case. The networks say they are not paying for interviews by paying the fees. But many observers have been infuriated that the Anthony family seems to be profiting from the death of a child, 2-year-old Caylee Anthony.
The Goldman story is an uplifting one, but paying for access is still paying for news. When money changes hands, that gives the appearance of compromising the reporting.
There should be one standard in journalism. No matter if the story is happy or tragic, checkbook journalism is wrong.

The bigger story here is how NBC continues to hype the trillion dollar Global Warming hoax when their owner General Electric is one of it's largest profiteers. NBC barely covered Climategate and they have just towed the line for their boss and Obama's buddy, Jeffrey Immelt.
