Today’s Dallas Morning News ran a report about “black flight” from the Dallas Independent School District namely because of the growth of Hispanic students over the past few years. Today, about 41,000 black students attend DISD schools. They make up 26 percent of the district compared with 106,000 Hispanic children, or 68 percent. White students are 5 percent of the district.
The number of black children attending DISD schools has reached its lowest point since 1965. The movement mirrors, on a smaller scale, massive white flight from the district in the 1970s.
Black students formed a majority in Dallas schools through the 1980s and ’90s. Over the last 10 years, though, the number of black children has fallen by nearly 20,000, or about a third. Meanwhile, Hispanic children have filled their seats as the district’s overall enrollment remains fairly flat at about 157,000.
Isn’t it interesting that blacks parents are doing exactly what they criticized whites for doing in the 70’s when forced integration destroyed the school systems across the country. White flight was, of course, racist. Blacks running from Hispanics is a desire for a better education for their children. A black grandparent whose granddaughter attends a Charter school said:
“I don’t want my grandkid in that environment where the teachers don’t teach and the kids wear saggy pants. You don’t see that at the charter school.”
Exactly! So maybe now blacks can understand why whites moved in droves to the suburbs and refused to let their children attend large city public schools. How would anyone like their white child to be one of the 5% in the Dallas Public Schools? They have a name for those white kids in the DISD…..victims! The reasons listed by black parents for leaving DISD were:
•The perception (that is correct) that Dallas ISD schools offer an inferior education compared with suburban schools, and that the school system is too big and impersonal.
•As Dallas ISD educates a growing number of Hispanic students, many of whom are poor and learning English, some black parents say the district no longer focuses on their children. (teaches less Malcolm X, more Cesar Chavez)
•The desire of middle-class blacks to live in bigger, newer, more comfortable homes in the suburbs, away from big-city crime and congestion.
•A growing number of charter schools, which are public schools run by private groups.
•Many of Dallas’ traditionally black neighborhoods are aging, and young Hispanic families are moving in to replace them and having children.
Blacks are now reaping what they have sewn. While they were the focus of the politically correct educational system and politicians, they had no problem with their children disrupting classes and lowering the quality of the white schools they were bused into. It was racism for whites to complain or move to the suburbs. Now blacks see that they are no longer the concern. School systems, run by Democrat unions, see Hispanics as the meal ticket in the future. Subsidies, school lunch programs, ESL, and at the end of the amnesty road…millions of votes for Democrats!
This is a perfect example why blacks should be against illegal immigration. Hispanics don’t like blacks and vice versa. They are both very racist communities. When they work together against whitey, blacks and Hispanics have a serendipitous relationship. But the fact remains that Hispanics are beginning to muscle out blacks in welfare, social programs and attention from politicians. Plus, most illegal alien females drop a new US citizen ever 9 months and 1 day so their population will continue to swell.
So how’s that diversity working out for you black America? It’s working out pretty well for illegal aliens! The percentage of DISD students labeled “economically disadvantaged,” meaning they qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, has increased from 73 percent in 2000 to 87 percent this year. Here’s something you may not realize…but you probably do if you’re a dude or dudette….there are no free lunches! Taxpayers pay for those “free lunches” for little Juan and Maria, who shouldn’t be here in the first place.
I have called for the total destruction of the Department of (non) Education. It is a scam and a money pit. Anything our federal government touches turns to dog sh*t. School superintendents and administrators are a corrupt as politicians. There is little wonder why American children are falling behind the rest of the world in education. It is because of the corrupt people running the corrupt education system.
I don’t blame black parents for choosing to move to get a better education for their children. But they should teach their children that the schools in the suburbs are not like the Dallas schools. They actually teach and the students learn. So look for more black students at your kid’s school next year. Just remind them to pull up their pants!

Oh how I remember when DISD integrated the schools back in the 70's. There were riots and all kind of chaos. You'd be walking down the hall and all of a sudden all hell would break loose. What a difference 30 years makes. . . .We were considered racist and now that the shoe is on the other foot "Blacks running from Hispanics is a desire for a better education for their children".
In Mesquite, TX where my kids went to school they have started busing kids in from surrounding low-income areas and the schools are becoming like war zones. The sad thing is if you already have moved to the suburbs where can you go now?

When you’re taking the state math test.
Despite promises that the exams — which determine whether students advance to the next grade — would not be dumbed down this year, students got “partial credit” for wrong answers after failing to correctly add, subtract, multiply and divide. Some got credit for no answer at all.
“They were giving credit for blatantly wrong things,” said an outraged Brooklyn teacher who was among those hired to score the fourth-grade test.
State education officials had vowed to “strengthen” and “increase the rigor” of both the questions and the scoring when about 1.2 million kids in grades 3 to 8 — including 450,000 in New York City — took English exams in April and math exams last month.
But scoring guides obtained by The Post reveal that kids get half-credit or more for showing fragments of work related to the problem — even if they screw up the calculations or leave the answer blank.
Examples in the fourth-grade scoring guide include:
* A kid who answers that a 2-foot-long skateboard is 48 inches long gets half-credit for adding 24 and 24 instead of the correct 12 plus 12.
* A miscalculation that 28 divided by 14 equals 4 instead of 2 is “partially correct” if the student uses the right method to verify the wrong answer.
* Setting up a division problem to find one-fifth of $400, but not solving the problem — and leaving the answer blank — gets half-credit.
State Education Department spokesman Tom Dunn defended the scoring.
"All teachers who score exams receive clear training and rubrics that detail scoring criteria for every question on the tests," he said. "Students who show work and demonstrate a partial understanding of the mathematical concepts or procedures embodied in the question receive partial credit."
But a few extra points can let a failing kid squeak by.
A year ago, Chancellor Joel Klein boasted that the city was making "dramatic progress" when 82 percent of city students passed the state math test and 69 percent passed in English, up sharply from 2002. And fewer kids have been left back in recent years.
What officials didn't reveal was that the number of points needed to pass proficiency levels has, in most cases, steadily dropped.

Israeli naval commandos seized an Irish-owned aid ship [MV Rachel Corrie] headed for Gaza Saturday morning, officials said.
The Israel military said it boarded the ship by sea with the compliance of the crew 35 kilometers (22 miles) off the Gaza coast.
“As far as I know there was no resistance or violence on the boat,” Israel Defense Forces spokeswoman Avital Leibovich told CNN.

The fundamental deception here is the use of the word "humanitarian." . . . Humanitarians don't wield iron clubs, and [they] would have killed the Israelis had the Israelis not drawn their pistols in self-defense.
But there‘s a larger issue here. What exactly is the humanitarian crisis that the flotilla was actually addressing? There is none. There’s no one starving in Gaza. The Gazans have been supplied with food and social services, education, by the U.N., by UNWRA, for 60 years, in part with American tax money.
Second, when there are humanitarian needs, the Israelis allow — every day — food and medicine overland into Gaza. The reason that it did not want to allow this flotilla is because, as the spokesman for the flotilla said herself, this was not about humanitarian relief. It was about breaking the blockade.
And the reason the Israelis have a blockade is because they only want to allow humanitarian supplies and not weaponry. Look, the proof of that is the fact that if you look at a map of Gaza, you'll see that Israelis only control three sides of this rectangle. There’s a fourth side on the Egyptian side. So it is an Egyptian-Israeli blockade.
The Egyptians have the same problem with Gaza. People accuse Israeli of the blockade [saying it’s because] because they're racist, they’re anti-Muslim, anti-Arab. The Egyptians are Muslim and Arab and they’ve gone to war three times on behalf of the Palestinians. So why do they have exactly the same blockade? Because Gaza is run by Hamas, a terror entity that wants to import weaponry and resume the war against Israel.
The man who made the announcement that we saw earlier, explaining the commando raid is the defense minister of Israel. He‘s not a right-winger. He‘s not Likud. He’s Ehud Barak, who’s the leader of Labor, the party of Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir, the party of the left, and the man who ten years ago this summer offered the Palestinians a peace agreement that would have [provided] a Palestinian state, division of Jerusalem, and an end of the conflict.
The Palestinians said no. And Gaza two years ago declared war on Israel. That's why you have a blockade. . . .
If these people had wanted humanitarian aid, Israel offered to take the ships into Haifa, peacefully, unload all the stuff inside and to allow all the humanitarian aid immediately into Gaza, all the food and medicine. It's All About Hating the Joos. . . .

Is it the fact that the current U.S.administration regime has clearly diverted from its historical role as true blue Israeli ally to the end? Or is it just pure unadulterated anti-Semitism?
At this point, it doesn't much matter -- as this latest hysterical reaction reminds us, much of the world not only sides with Israel's enemies but sides with them to such a degree as to suggest that, in any existential moment to come, the world either will be indifferent or will be on the side of Israeli's enemies.
Its encouraging, isn't it, how so very far we've all come since 1945.
