Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying Citizens of the country. Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living In low Income tenements and living off various forms of government Welfare..."
Olson believes the United States is now Somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of The nation's population already having reached the "governmental Dependency" phase.

Vacationing Is A Human Right?

She actually thinks that a faster internet will save her community and Indian tribe. . . .With a straight face she emotionally request high speed internet because dial up kept her sons "at a severe disadvantage". I'm sure this gooooood mooootheeer's sons need high speed internet only for school reports and research. . . .no mention of myspace, facebook, gaming and listening to music.
Why wasn't this imbecile in Washington advocating on getting the textile mills re-opened and increasing jobs to save her community? After listening to your priorities lady. . . .Your son's have bigger problems than dial up internet.
The bigger issue here is that the FCC is having a "Digital Inclusion Summit" where internet providers will be subsidized by the government to provide high speed internet across the country. . . .In other words you the taxpayer will pay for it.
What's next? cable, 60" plasmas, iphones, DVR's, ipods, ipads, new laptops (why have high speed internet if you have a crappy computer. . . .right?)
When will the enabling end? Will high speed internet become a human right along with healthcare?

On the Need for Comprehensive Doorman Reform

Following up on the NYC Doorman's Strike, apparently catastrophe has been averted, and sophisticated New Yorkers will be spared the horrors of "sorting mail, screening visitors, hauling garbage out to the curb and operating elevators," --- things us idiot rubes in flyover country manage to do pretty well on our own.
William A. Jacobson at Legal Insurrection sees another opportunity to correct a social inequality here. Why do New Yorkers have doormen to do these menial tasks for them while the rest of America is forced to do it ourselves. By golly, we need Comprehensive Doorman Reform.
We could call such legislation The Apartment Protection and Affordable Door Person Act.
I see another advantage. Providing every American with a doorman would create jillions of jobs! We can write the law so that everyone over $250,000 a year is required to hire a doorman, and everyone else will have one provided by the Government. After all, if we're so rich we can afford to give everybody health care, everybody a college education, and have enough left over to bailout Wall Street and the unionized bureaucrats of New York, Illinois, and California... surely we can provide everyone in the USA with a doorman.
After all, according to the progressive left, a "right" is defined as "something someone else has that I want even if I haven't earned it," (e.g. health care coverage, tourism, same-sex marriage). Therefore, if enough people want personal doormen, it becomes a "right."

Beginning January 1, 2013, ObamaCare imposes a 3.8% Medicare tax on unearned income, including the sale of single family homes, townhouses, co-ops, condominiums, and even rental income.
In February 2010, 5.02 million homes were sold, according to the National Association of Realtors. On any given day, the sale of a house, townhome, condominium, co-op, or income from a rental property can push middle-income families over the $250,000 threshold and slam them with a new tax they can’t afford.
This new ObamaCare tax is the first time the government will apply a 3.8 percent tax on unearned income. This new tax on home sales and unearned income and other Medicare taxes raise taxes more than $210 billion to pay for ObamaCare. The National Association of Realtors called this new Medicare tax on unearned income “destructive” and “ill-advised” and warned it would hurt job creation.

Global temperature has increased over the past 50 years. This observed increase is due primarily to human-induced emissions of heat-trapping gases."
Without action to stop them, climate-warming greenhouse gas emissions will rise over 8,000 megatonnes by mid-century, the draft said. By adopting measures detailed in a bill passed last year by the U.S. House of Representatives, these emissions will drop beneath 2,000 megatonnes. They're now about 6,500 megatonnes. The United Nations measures greenhouse gas emissions in megatonnes, or million metric tons.
The effects of climate change are already evident, the draft said: warming air and oceans, vanishing mountain glaciers, thawing permafrost, signs of instability in the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica and rising sea levels.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-Dingusville) proposed a bump in the federal gasoline tax of 15 cents as part of global warming legislation.
Right there, before anything else happens, there are at least three errors: The clown just proposed a tax increase. The clown wants to raise gasoline prices to combat a planet-wide natural phenomenon that scientists don't understand and that the U.S. only marginally affects, even under the most outlandish projections of global warming alarmists that Graham apparently believes in. And the clown doesn't realize that a 15 cent bump isn't going to change gasoline consumption behaviors enough to make any difference, again even under the global warming assumptions he believes in.
But then there's the MEGA WHOPPER of an unforced error: the White House is now trumpeting that the President opposes Graham's tax increase because it will force higher prices on consumers still struggling through the Great Recession.
The dolt just let the President pretend to oppose tax increases on gasoline. The same President that once said he supported raising the price of gas to combat global warming. Now the President gets to prance and preen while Graham looks like a tax-happy fat-cat disconnected from the plight of Americans.
