Even Cuba Turns Away From Socialism

According to Van Hensing at moonbattery.com:

Admitting that communism doesn't work was the first step. Now Cuba is turning toward the free market:

Cuba says it will fire at least half a million state workers by mid-2011 and will free up private enterprise to help them find new work — radically remaking employment on the communist island.

Meanwhile, 90 miles away, Comrade Obama continues to hire armies of useless bureaucrats at grotesquely inflated salaries while the economy sinks into a hapless mire of socialism.

Let's hope Cuba has a "wet foot dry foot" policy if Obama manages to fundamentally transform America to the point that we find ourselves braving shark-infested waters to escape to relative freedom, as Cubans under Fidel Castro's original version of Hope & Change have been doing for years.

When the Cubans get the freedom to own their own businesses and not depend on the government that island will flourish. . . .

As Milton Friedman once said:

When a man spends his own money to buy something for himself, he is very careful about how much he spends and how he spends it. When a man spends his own money to buy something for someone else, he is still very careful about how much he spends, but somewhat less what he spends it on. When a man spends someone else's money to buy something for himself, he is very careful about what he buys, but doesn't care at all how much he spends. And when a man spends someone else's money on someone else, he doesn't care how much he spends or what he spends it on. And that's government for you.
