Parkland Hospital and Illegals. . . .

So tell me again, why do we need to pass the new healthcare bill again? Sounds like they're already getting what they need. What this tells me is that we have already lost our country because it is too late to turn this around.

Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas is a fairly famous institution and for a variety of reasons:

1. John F. Kennedy died there in 1963

2. Lee Harvey Oswald died there shortly after

3. Jack Ruby-who killed Lee Harvey Oswald, died there a few years later...by coincidence

4. Chef Geoffrey Michael's life saved by trauma team 2

On the flip side, Parkland is also home to the second busiest maternity ward in the country with almost 16,000 new babies arriving each year. (That's almost 44 per day---every day)

A recent patient survey indicated that 70 percent of the women who gave birth at Parkland in the first three months of 2006 were illegal immigrants. That's 11,200 anchor babies born every year just in Dallas

According to the article; the hospital spent $70.7 million delivering 15,938 babies in 2004 but managed to end up with almost $8 million dollars in surplus funding. Medicaid kicked in $34.5 million, Dallas County taxpayers kicked in $31.3 million and the feds tossed in another $9.5 million.

The average patient in Parklands maternity wards is 25 years old, married and giving birth to her second child. She is also an illegal immigrant. By law, pregnant women cannot be denied medical care based on their immigration status or ability to pay.

OK, fine. That doesn't mean they should receive better care than everyday, middle-class American citizens. But at Parkland Hospital, they do. “Parkland Memorial Hospital has nine prenatal clinics. NINE.

The Dallas Morning News article followed a Hispanic woman who was a patient at one of the clinics and pregnant with her third child---her previous two were also born at Parkland . Her first two deliveries were free and the Mexican native was grateful because it would have cost$200 to have them in Mexico. This time, the hospital wants her to pay $10 per visit and $100 for the delivery but she was unsure if she could come up with the money. Not that it matters, the hospital won't turn her away. (I wonder why they even bother asking at this point.)

"How long has this been going on? What are the long-term effects?

Well, another subject of the article was born at Parkland in 1986 shortly after her mother entered the US illegally - now she is having her own child there as well. (That's right; she's technically a US citizen.)

These women receive free prenatal care including medication, nutrition, birthing classes and child care classes. They also get freebies such as car seats, bottles, diapers and formula.

Most of these things are available to American citizens as well but only for low-income applicants and even then, the red tape involved is almost insurmountable.

Because these women are illegal immigrants, they do not have to provide any sort of legitimate identification - no proof of income. An American citizen would have to provide a social security number which would reveal their annual income - an illegal immigrant need only claim to be poor and the hospital must take them at their word.

Parkland Hospital offers indigent care to Dallas County residents who earn less than $40,000 per year. (They also have to prove that they did not refuse health coverage at their current job.. Yeah, the 'free' care is not so easy for Americans.)

There are about 140 patients who received roughly $4 million dollars for un-reimbursed medical care. As it turns out, they did not qualify for free treatment because they resided outside of Dallas County so the hospital is going to sue them! Illegal’s get it all free! But U. S citizens who live outside of Dallas County get sued! How stupid is this?

As if that isn't annoying enough, the illegal immigrant patients are actually complaining about hospital staff not speaking Spanish. In this AP story, the author speaks with a woman who is upset that she had to translate comments from the hospital staff into Spanish for her husband. The doctor was trying to explain the situation to the family and the mother was forced to translate for her husband who only spoke Spanish. This was apparently a great injustice to her.

In an attempt to create a Spanish-speaking staff, Parkland Hospital is now providing incentives in the form of extra pay for applicants who speak Spanish. Additionally, medical students at the University of Texas Southwestern for which Parkland Hospital is the training facility will now have a Spanish language requirement added to their already jammed-packed curriculum. No other school in the country boasts such a ridiculous multi-semester (multicultural) requirement.

Remember that this is about only ONE hospital in Dallas, Texas. There are many more hospitals across our country that must also deal with this.

Steve Burton, 39, has agreed to surrender at the U.S. District Court in Riverside. He was charged Friday by federal prosecutors in L.A. with the unauthorized wearing of military medals after he was allegedly seen and photographed wearing military uniforms and decorations.

The FBI was contacted by a Navy commander after she attended her high school reunion and saw Burton wearing a Marine Corps uniform displaying several medals, including the Navy Cross, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and others, according to an affidavit filed in United States District Court.

The Navy Cross is the highest medal the Navy awards and is the second highest award given for valor, second only to the Medal of Honor.

Suspicious, the commander asked to be photographed with Burton. The photo was used in the investigation. The FBI said it also found that Burton had made Internet postings about being a Marine and had written about his “combat experience” as well as his “service” in Afghanistan and Iraq. He also allegedly posted a picture of himself standing on a beach at Coronado wearing a Marine dress uniform with three rows of medals.

Here is what I immediately thought when I read this article. . . .

The FBI investigated and has now charged this Marine wannabe for "unauthorized wearing of military medals".

What was he doing impersonating a Marine?  Unless he murdered the Marine and took his metals did this really call for a full blown federal investigation? His Crime? Wearing medals and trying to impress the ladies. . . .

WTF. . . .using critical resources of the FBI for this bullsh*t when we have "enemy within" that want to destroy our country.

Why did the FBI allow a muslim major in the military to go off their radar when he attended the same radical mosque as the 9-11 hijackers whose imam has praised the attack.  He described American soldiers as "infidels who should have their throats slit."

Major Hasan is a muslim fanatic, known to the FBI as a fan of suicide bombers and to colleagues as an opponent of our government. This bast*rd was allowed to harass the soldiers he treated for stress disorders. According to colleagues, Hasan not only argued with his patients about our wars, but preached Islam to those under his care and was corresponding with a radical Islamist imam in the hotbed of al-Qaeda terrorism.

Major Hasan came to the attention of the FBI in December 2008 and their "conclusion made by the investigator and the supervisor that Major Hasan was not involved in terrorist activities or planning."

All the unconnected dots of the FBI, Homeland Security and Military Intelligence. . . .and now 13 soldiers are KIA (killed in action) and 30+ injured.

Fox News broke news of the visit this afternoon. Other sources said the former first couple spent about two hours meeting with the wounded, family and soldiers, talking quietly and at times hugging them as they did in private at other times of crisis such as post-9/11.

Most presidents come to feel a genuine respect and affection for the people they lead as commander-in-chief and sometimes the affection is reciprocated.

Many base workers and residents on Fort Hood are still reeling from the shooting this week by Major Nidal Malik Hasan that killed 13 people and wounded dozens of others.

The White House announced today the Obamas plan to attend a memorial service there on Tuesday. Some foreign news reporters have begun to write unflattering comparisons of the emotional Bush vs the ever-cool, possibly cold Obama.

Last winter, "Gelling Biodiesel" caused Minnesota school closings. The engines of the buses froze, so what was the solution? Idle the buses 24 hours a day during extremely freezing weather. . .Minnesota school children not only have "Snow Days" they now have "Biodiesel" days off.

Just like the big hype of manufacturing "Electric" cars. . . .Where do these environmental Al Gore wannabes think electricity comes from? POWER PLANT'S that run on coal, nuclear power, hydro etc. . . .

Let's not forget the wonderful concept of the HOV lane. . . .During rush hour you have two cars that are able to go 70 mph while a thousand cars are basically idling or just creeping down the freeway wasting gas, overheating and polluting. . . .duh
